A delightful collection of 24 original short stories in English about Japan by Canadian author Rufus Lin. The stories were written in Japanese, and then translated by the author into his native English language.
There are eight short stories in each section of the book, respectively "8 Japanese Women", "8 Japanese Dreams" and "8 Japanese Memories". Almost all the stories have to do with Japanese women.
The author has been visiting Japan over the course of more than 15 years. He has developed a small following in Japan, with thousands of fans who love his writing, paintings and music. This characters in the stories are composites of actual Japanese women who are acquaintances of the author, with a dash of poetic licence. In the same way, the events in the stories are liberal interpretations of the author's actual experiences, along with judicious sprinklings of imagination.
