Life must be lived forwards, but can only be understood backwards. The past generations of the Crawford/Sergent/Nixon/Paul clans have not thrown up any great scientists, philosophers, adventurers, politicians or celebrated household names. We’re pretty much an extended family of farmers, grocers, tradesmen, mechanics and housewives - at least within the time parameters of these memoirs.The author hopes, however the tales within this book will not only entertain and enable us to gain some idea of where we’ve all come from, but provide a springboard for further investigation into our family archives/
