Man In Space: A Short Account of War, Space Travel and the Future of Us All. Your journey begins with the returning to earth of the spaceship know as Mars Explorer 2 (ME-2), following the first successful manned expedition to Mars. You will meet Captain Rockheart and his crew and learn how they adapted to a 180-degree change affecting Man’s total earthly existence, pursuant to the Last Great War of 2054. There was not a soul on Earth left untouched by this mega disaster. The Rockheart Chronicles takes up the first six chapters of the book, demonstrating how Man doesn’t change much in attitude, in spite of wars, poverty, disease, and many other catastrophes (unexpected and unpredictable). I make no apology for highlighting and stressing the pointlessness of war and abuse of power - is there a lesson somewhere? There is another short story near the end describing a situation 10,000 years hence, mixing fact and fantasy. The rest of this literary collection is filled with poems, articles of prose and free verse, taking you down a spacey pathway, up a twisted lane - a selection of vignettes illustrating many sides of your futuristic journey - surprisingly starting and finishing with the Last Great War of 2054. Will the circle be broken? Now read on, with hope and a prayer. (published in a Kindle version as War and the Future of Us All. )
