SPARROW is the first story for children in the illustrated series, HIMALAYAN TALES.

As a child in Gilgit-Baltistan in the Himalayas, Rashid Naeem was told many exciting and uplifting stories by his parents. These stories had been passed from parent to child over many generations, without ever having been written down.

The stories are magical, with talking creatures, good and evil. They introduce great dramas, which are eventually resolved and generally lead to a happy and contented life. They carry an uplifting theme of how we must care for others, especially those who are downtrodden by life.

Rashid has edited these stories and translated them from Shina (the Gilgit language). Rashid wishes to thank his parents and relatives for their great help in collecting the stories, of which Sparrow is the first.

Alan Greenwell has illustrated SPARROW.

Other stories in the HIMALAYAN TALES series: -

Zoro, The Proud Hen, The Clever Donkey, Lady Moon, The Bad King, The Good King, The Wild Goat, Pilti and Polti, Daisy and her Father.
