In the course of writing articles for a community magazine, Lena Strang has been privileged to speak to local people from all walks of life - from fishermen, farmers and market stallholders to artists, musicians and athletes to name but a few. She has been able to talk to people who have lived there all their lives and others who have made it their home. The rich history of the region fascinates her. She has been able to piece together the intriguing stories behind abandoned houses and researched places of interest. Time spent talking to elderly residents with their recollections of times past she has found particularly rewarding. For this book, Lena has adapted articles she has written over a period of some years and is sure that there are still many untold stories out there to be told.
