Although Rita takes the Title Role, this is a Searching for Identity, Voyage of Discovery for all eight of the main characters. When Rita first appeared in a Creative Writing Homework early in 2004, our Tutor was incensed because, ‘The Social would have something to say about an under age working girl.’ I have steepled our resolve about the Social, which is my area of expertise. My Acknowledgements and Thanks to an early Twentieth Century edition of Boy’s Own Paper, for a vaguely remembered story idea, that I adapted to become that of Mary Richards, {and hence Mary Andrew} fighting for her life on the top of a runaway Stage Coach in America’s Old West. My Apologies to Native Americans who, at that time, were portrayed as anarchic savages, and thus also in the extract. I do know that contrary to the Hollywood Studio image, you had every provocation to wage war on the invaders. Compared to many of them, you were civilised.
