Bill Bailey is a natural story teller and his autobiography covers a range of topics following his varied career as a Chartered Mechanical Engineer. He trained with Frank Whittle’s Power Jets, then moved on to work with Austin motorcars, Alvis aero engines and Massey Ferguson farm machinery as Chief Engineer. There are many amusing anecdotes of his school days during the War . After the war he competed at the highest level as a racing cyclist. At a later date he took up mountaineering, travelling to the highest mountains of the world in the Himalayas, Europe, Africa and the Andes. Bill Bailey’s hobbies still include fishing, shooting and mountain biking. The Latin school master who sent him off with the words, You may be good at something, we’ve yet to find out what it is, it’s certainly not Latin , would have been surprised to learn what his pupil accomplished. A great read which will appeal to men from all walks of life.
