The Ascension

In the suburb of Morningside, in Brisbane, a timber church built in the carpenter gothic style is approaching 100 years since construction. It is known as the Church of the Ascension, a War Memorial Church. Beneath the altar is an area known as the crypt in which is said to reside a parchment containing the names of the parish’s men that fell during the Great War. This is the story of the parishioners and how their church came into being and is dedicated to the memory of those men that made the supreme sacrifice.
