In 1964, at age fourteen, Calvin moved from two feet of snow in Chicago to sunny San Diego over the Christmas break. He and Jimbo become best friends. They discover cheap wine at age fifteen, marijuana, engines and cars at sixteen, money, work and women after that. Both are dating the same mysterious girl, but not discussing it with the other. Time moves on, Kennedy is killed, the Viet Nam conflict is expanding and the Draft is calling. What are the choices? Two high risk years in the Army or Marines, four safer years in the Navy or Air Force, move to Canada or Mexico, get married or go to college. This is a coming of age story about two friends caught up in those times.
