As the first of her family to arrive in the United States, Indu has already faced her share of obstacles and hardships. So when her mother and younger sister decide to join her in the new country, the young widow is prepared to help make their arrival a much smoother transition.

But it isn’t long before Indu’s sense of duty to her family begins to take a devastating toll. Suddenly, she’s trapped by obligations, stifled by her mother’s constant meddling-and reliving painful memories she would much rather forget.

As family tensions continue to build, Indu struggles to find her own voice among the chaos, dreaming of a place where she will be free of the ever-tightening bonds that restrain her.
