Allyn Kaplan, once a promising lawyer and now first in a new breed of magi, has dealt an improbable deathblow to a movement that sought to destroy his new Family and expose the magi existence to the world. But not without great cost. The McCollum Manor has fallen, the Family is on the verge of splintering, and the police, who believe Allyn is responsible for his sister’s disappearance, are closing in. Jaxon, the acting Grand Mage of the McCollum Family, struggles with Allyn to hold the Family together and stay ahead of the mounting investigation.
