A photog, on an early morning boat trip to photograph the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, finds a dead body-a young, beautiful woman-floating near Disappearing Island. City Manager, Neil Jarret has just fired Jed McCain for the second time in less than six months since he accepted the job of chief of the Coronado Beach Police Department. With less than two weeks left as chief, McCain digs into the life of the twenty-six year old, Victoria Rockwell and was astonished at the number of suspects with motive to kill one so young. While McCain is investigating Rockwell’s murder, his assistant, Sergeant, Martha Johnson asks McCain to help her son Deshon who has become ensnared in a city-boy gang. The gang is drawing Deshon deeper into violent, illegal activities, and Johnson and McCain endeavor to reach the boy before it’s too late. These events in McCain’s final days as chief test the limits of his skill as an investigator and his limited experience as the head of the PD.
