This is a true, short story that could easily be entitled Of Mice and Women and A Few Good Men. The story began in a kitchen.A wealth of tropical beauty lay beyond the window of the kitchen in question. Whilst lush green palm trees swayed, lime trees turned their leaves and stretched towards the sun. Ripe sour sop fruit was feasted on by bright yellow banana birds whilst chickens pecked and scratched at the dirt in the yard. A grass snake wound its way around the hanging bird feeder on the old fig tree and, in the heat of the midday sun, an iguana lazily warmed its scaly skin on a rock before scurrying back to its cool underground home. This story is set on a small Caribbean island in the Gulf of Mexico. The story, however, focuses on the actions of a group of people who live on the island.
