While I Was Flying: The Aviation Episodes of an Architect During the Golden Age of Aviation

The author presents a sequence of stories that are informative, entertaining, sometimes riveting, and laced with humor. The stories tell of one man’s passion and perseverance for the beauty, adventure, and discovery of flying as he continually flies into the unknown. He covers his twenty-five years of flying, experience and episodes in general aviation, including some that end in tragedy and some fraught with the potential for tragedy. Fifteen-years of business-flying escapades, as an Architect and aircraft owner, are interwoven into the fabric of the history of, what may arguably be, The Golden Age of Aviation . These stories cover multiple flights to and from over one-hundred and twenty-five towns and cities, in over twenty-three States, three Countries and three Continents with over two-thousand takeoffs and landings from the busiest airports in the world to the short- field dirt and grass landing strips. He holds a Commercial Pilot Certificate with Single-Engine and Multiple-Engine Land endorsements and an Instrument Rating. He also does other stuff, but he’d rather be flying. The author has two children, three grandchildren, an Architectural practice, a Classic car, and an ever- intimidating stack of bills.
