It is a compilation of my late beloved, devout spouse, John Anthony Payne’s writings. As he wrote: these have been written to convey what I see to be going on in human affairs, under the Providence of God, in the ebb and flow of the spiritual battle. It is composed with a view toward edifying and instructing, as well as toward the affording of enjoyment. The work was conceived as a hybrid of the fiction form and the nonfiction form, in order to achieve the goals which were set for it… intended for those devout Catholics who know that the greatest thing they can do for God is to reach completion in charity. Others too may benefit from reading this who recognize that the human mind can find no reasons to reject any of the tenets of the Catholic Faith and who are therefore seeking to become Catholics. People of good will who have not yet attained to this understanding may profit from exposure to this writing also.
