General Robert E. Lee the South’s Peerless Soldier and Leader
Samuel A Ashe
January 20, 1904, was a Wednesday, the day after General Robert E. Lee’s ninety-seventh birthday. All of these people had gathered to honor this event and the man most regarded, as not only the greatest Southerner, but the greatest American who had ever lived. This tradition continues in the twenty-first century and this editor hopes it continues for many centuries to come. However, it will be up to future generations to continue to honor, not only General Robert E. Lee, but all Confederate Veterans. The original pamphlet has been out of print for more than a hundred years and not many were printed or survive today. That is the purpose of reprinting this small book. Not only to honor General Lee and Captain Ashe, but all Confederate Veterans and to leave this information for future generations.
