Strawberry Rhubarb Pie: A family gathering mystery

Some family secrets get lost over time, especially when one pursues the life of a wanderer, pursuing adventure abroad, far from home. Some memories are repressed out of pain and loss of a loved one. It has been fifty years since Professor Daniel Jonson made a promise to his deceased Uncle Paul, to tell a children’s story entitled, The Chinaman’s Story to all the children in the neighborhood while he was away at war in the Pacific. Was his reason simply to keep trespasser away from the Jonson farm? Was there a secret reason? What if one secret known only to a few Jonson family members must be recovered and revealed if this extended family of Swedes, Japanese, and Chinese are to reunite after WWII and be a family once more. And what if by revealing one secret, Professor Jonson discovers another secret which brings even greater danger to the family. He is fortunate to have Dr. Claire Parsons, a vibrant and brilliant clinical psychologist as his main squeeze and partner in finding a way to uncover these secrets from deep in his memory-attic. Perhaps if he can discover the secret reason, he can keep his 50 year old promise, reunite his family, and maybe restore his sense of family.
