Michol has been writing poetry since she was a child. She started writing in middle school when someone gave her a Maya Angelo notebook to write her thoughts in. She read her poems and found further inspiration. Writing was a way for her to process and heal her emotions and deal with some very tumultuous and traumatic life-altering events and emotions.

In this book, you hold all the poetry she has written from those days until as recently as this book went to the editor. Each chapter has a theme arranged in chronological order. In this way, you cannot only experience her poetry, but she invites you to experience pieces of her life, history, healing, and journey.

It was difficult in some cases to keep the poetry in its original state, having grown and learned so much over the years, but she found value in its elementary form and in watching the growth as she put the pages together. She hopes you will find value as well.

Writing can be very healing, and she was fortunate enough to have someone suggest that she write to process her feelings at a noticeably early age. It is for this reason she has included space for you to write at the end of each chapter. She hopes that if the pages in book resonate with you, one of the take-aways is a sense that you are not alone. The intention is, by the end, that you will feel the genuine possibility of healing. She hopes this leads you to embrace yourself and step forward towards your dreams.
