Learning can and should be fun! With Time Capsule unit studies, your child will once again learn to love learning. Time Capsule unit studies immerse your child in the daily life of whatever time period they are studying. They will get to wear the clothes, eat the food, perform the jobs, discover about the history, act in character, hear the music and the speech, learn about the geography, read about the people, and more.
The first unit study in this series is called Time Capsule: Medieval England. Designed for 2nd-8th grade, these lessons will immerse your child in the social hierarchy of feudal England. By the time they have completed this study, your child will have spent two weeks as a peasant, two weeks as a tradesman or a tradeswoman, two weeks as a knight or a lady-in-waiting, two weeks as a monk or nun, two weeks as a baron or a baroness, and two weeks as a king or queen. Your child won’t only learn about the feudal system they will live it. We try to do everything possible to make your child feel like they have been transported back to the Middle Ages without actually having a time machine!
Time Capsule lessons are great for all learning styles. Lessons are filled with hands-on, active, mind-engaging and body moving activities. Your child will learn about the Black Death, the Norman Conquest, the daily lives of medieval queens, the job of a stone mason, and much much more.
The taste of frumenty and baked pears, the sound of medieval music and the Old English language, the feeling of pride as your child crafts their very own sword and shield, the sight of themselves wearing period clothing, the fun of acting in a medieval drama… all of their senses are engaged.

The Time Capsule: Medieval England unit study contains 300 activities. They are designed to give you five lessons a day for twelve weeks. You may decide to use this curriculum exclusively for the 12 week period and let your child completely immerse themselves in this subject material. Or, you may decide to do your regular subjects in the morning and to do your Time Capsule lessons in the afternoon - or on Fridays only - or over summer vacation. There is no right or wrong way to use these lessons. Decide what you think will work best for your family.
Time Capsule lessons are also easy to teach. Each lesson contains a materials lists, details about any necessary prep work, and step-by-step instructions about how to complete the lesson. Read the material to your child and then follow the instructions. It couldn’t be more straightforward. Most of the necessary materials are also easily found around the home, making lesson preparation quick and painless.
