Norman Douglas MacCaud (1933-1993) was a Toronto boy, a career criminal, a participant in the Kingston Penitentiary Riot and some say, a hit man in Ireland in the 1970s and 1980s. As it turns out, he also wrote a book called Birdsong after he was deported. This is the story of my quest to find out who the author of Birdsong really was and how much of the story he told about the Kingston Penitentiary riot was true.
