I became interested in my spiritual growth in my twenties. I started

searching for answers when my husband died. I was 24. We married

young and started to have problems. About 2 years later, we separated.

I didn’t quite understand what went wrong and about 18 months after

our separation my husband passed away. I went through a difficult time

and my search began.

At that time there wasn’t a lot on offer but I started to become

interested in Tarot. A few alternative crystal shops were in my area and

I began looking for different classes. I joined a meditation class when I

was 27. I enjoyed learning about different spiritual areas and continued

learning for about a year.

I travelled to London when I was 29 and in the pre-internet days,

discovered an endless array of information in the large bookshops. I

felt compelled to buy the Aleister Crowley Tarot deck in large format

as I was drawn to Lady Frieda Harris’s artwork. I became familiar with

this deck but I didn’t share the belief in the interpretations that had

been written by Crowley. I formed my own ideas until I bought ‘The Tarot

Handbook: practical applications of ancient visual symbols’ by Angeles

Arrien. It became my go to book and I studied the Tarot from this book.

I was fascinated with the explanations, the connection to numerology,

astrology, and the symbols that connect to ancient times.

I met a wonderful friend, Johnelle, who invited me to her group and we

held meditation and spiritual growth classes on a regular basis. Johnelle

was an inspiration to me at this time in my life and encouraged me to

start reading for friends. I moved after a couple of years and I started

to hold my own meditation groups and do readings a few days a week

at an alternative bookshop. Around this time Louise Hay’s books were

becoming popular. I attended a Louise Hay workshop You can heal your

life . I did many workshops over the years, numerology being one of my

favourites. Mind Vision workshops with Fergus and Trijntje Reilly had a

big impact on my direction at the time.

I also continued to pursue my other great

passion for art. I have always had an interest in art and have made

many art quilts. I combined paint with fabric for many years and more

recently made some fine art pieces.

In 2016, I was given a grant through the Sunshine Coast Council to help

me in the printing of Gold Lotus. I was extremely grateful to receive

this as it was a long, competitive process. This grant was a turning

point in my commitment to knowing I was on the right path and that

many people would benefit from Gold Lotus all over the world.

The inspiration for the artwork for Gold Lotus is a mixture of guidance

from my angels as well as my imagination. When some of the images

came to me, I would begin the initial drawings then build on them to

explore the colour and the higher intent behind the work.

Gold Lotus oracle deck is multifaceted in that the deck can be used

alone for guidance, in a reading for others and included in healing

practices. Another way the cards can be used is

to provide what may be required for individual guidance, or the deck

could be used in conjunction with the corresponding crystal or crystal

vibration, affirmations, and numerology values, making it an invaluable

resource.
