Set in British Columbia, Canada, ‘A Matter of Issue’ is a masterfully-woven contemporary novel which weaves a compelling tale of birthrights, inheritances and elder abuse.

When Charles Wentworth, recently widowed, has a second chance at love, his son, Kirk, sees trouble on the horizon. Kirk has planned his life around getting an inheritance one day, and will do whatever it takes to protect it. When things start getting out of hand, Charles’s elder son, Bill, steps in to try and keep the family on an even keel. However, he soon finds himself embroiled in a whirlwind of family dynamics, as he strives to keep a rein on Kirk’s behaviour. And then tragedy strikes.

Meanwhile, Charles’s grandson, Michael, who has just turned sixteen, asks for his birth certificate so that he can apply for his drivers’ licence, and learns of a family secret which threatens to undermine his very existence. As Michael grapples with what he has learned and goes looking for answers, his mother, Alice, is determined to keep the past out of her present life.
