Apparently So: A collection of short humor and other articles from a distinguished writing career
David L Price
Apparently So is a compilation of 42 short articles written during the distinguished career of David L. Price. They include humorous tales such as how he got into a drunken fistfight with one of his cats and how to survive an elevator crash from dozens of floors above the ground. Also included are clever poems, beautifully illustrated by his talented artist friends, Alex Carr and Mira Dabrowski. One of the poems is a racy limerick that got his children in trouble for repeating it to their middle-school friends, even though they promised to all things holy that they wouldn’t. On the other side of the emotional curve, the book features a moving Prologue and Epilogue about his May 2014 diagnosis of terminal bile duct cancer, which he continues to fight with western medicine and the power of prayer from his wife, family and friends; and accounts of his long struggles with chronic illness and anxiety, and drug and alcohol addiction. Featuring both humor and poignancy is a moving account of how he and his Brazilian wife found each other while living 7,500 miles apart, and then planned and carried out a full church wedding in only three weeks in fall 2014. This is only a small sampling of the rich stories inside. As someone who read the book commented: David L. Price (not the baseball pitcher) is that rare humor writer who can make you laugh out loud in some stories and bring you to tears in others with his honest observations on life.
