Discussions include trail, camp, and bear safety; Yellowstone weather (including an entire chapter on winter hiking and skiing); information on selecting hiking clothing and equipment suitable for Yellowstone’s unique climate; boating, fishing, and hunting regulations; backcountry use regulations; camping permits; hiking etiquette; and much, much more. Each trail includes a detailed analysis regarding difficulty, hiking conditions, distances, campsite features (including detailed analyses of all of the park’s almost 300 backcountry campsites), elevation details, and a list of notable points of reference that can be found along the trail (over 2,100 in total), each with its GPS coordinates.
