Living with Abi

Abi is dying of cancer. Ten years ago, she and her infant son, Morgan, fled her abusive husband, Vince, by escaping Texas and settling in New Zealand. Now, Abi is faced with deciding what to do with her son. Morgan is not Vince’s child, but she dare not contact his biological father, Garrett, who is married, because Vince would somehow find out and claim Morgan as his own. Garrett, who does not know Morgan exists, is a psychologist and author. He has just returned from a book tour, and is strangely obsessed with finding Abi, his lost lover of ten years earlier, a quest which does not make sense even to him, as he is happily married to Delthea. Still, he cannot shake his growing need to find Abi and somehow relieve an inexplicable abdominal pain that is growing rapidly worse. Just when Delthea should be enjoying the prospect of having her own family, she is faced with Garrett’s illness and a phantom lover who still holds her husband emotionally captive. When Delthea gains information that could lead to Abi’s whereabouts, she keeps this information to herself, paralyzed with the prospect of reuniting her husband with his lost lover and the child he does not know exists. Living with Abi tells the mystical story of how these intertwined lives come together across time and distance, bridging the gap between life and death.
