As a result, I found myself in a bitter war with my master; an insatiable beast that rewards its slaves with only the illusion of freedom, choice, and life, and desperately punishes those who dare call these bracelets Chains. The first half of this book is written in an eternal moment of hell triggered by my refusal to serve the beast. I hoped something real was waiting on the other side, but I hadn’t seen anyone achieve the free life I was envisioning.To many looking in, my fight seemed pointless and masochistic; an unending and unwinnable war against the whole world.
