This book is an examination of the past 120 years of marriage in the culture we commonly call Western Culture which encompasses not only the United States of America but the rest of the Occidental countries which includes Canada, South America, Europe and Australia. Collectively these cultures share the same religious views and customs concerning government and family life which has its origins in the Greek and Roman civilizations. What is shared by these countries is a less than stellar record when it comes to the success of marriages and the rates of divorce which averages 45% or 4 out of 10 marriages that will not last 10 years. This book examines why this divorce rate went from 0.8% in the early 1900s to 50% in 1976 and today in the U S this number hovers between 42% and 45%. This is a monumental leap from just under 1 percent. Just imagine there was once upon a time when families stayed together and worked out their problems, but what happened to this strong pillow of American society and how did it lose this important part of its many strengths. This book does not claim to know all the answers to this dilemma; however the author has done some research into some distinct changes in our culture that slowly spread from big city to big city to small town USA from coast to coast affecting all races and social economical levels. The author also examines the biological as well as philosophical DNA that is part of the theory of romantic love and how they have become entangled strands of bliss and frustration
