Media Caricature of African Coolness: How To Talk About Africa and Look Cool

Consider the Western media cartoon of Africa, the African people, the African child, and the African government. You can’t tell specifically who we’re talking about here. Right? But it looks as if you get the images. Is the exact vocabulary starting to form? You got it! That was easy. In this book, I make a sarcastic presentation of the stereotypical image the Western media holds about Africa. It’s supposed to be both entertaining and reflective to readers from both sides of the paradigm. On a serious note, I warn that, while some of these caricatures may be based on reality at the time, without balance and circumspection, we risk hardening the public’s consciousness and people will become immutable, even after the media sketches have changed.
