Samuel George II, a little 1946 red pickup, had it made, living with other kids on Papa’s Farm. But he felt the fast car crow pulling him. Even after Papa told him he shouldn’t leave, Sammy chose to follow Monty Mercedes out into the fast lane.
His new best friend not only changed his name, but took everything he had. When all he had was taken from him, Sammy was left beside the road, empty and forsaken. When he found himself in the junk yard, he started to believe he was nothing but junk and would never feel shiny and good again.
Then he thought of the workers on Papa’s farm. Papa kept his work cars and trucks clean and full of gas. Somehow, Sammy managed to get some gas and oil, just enough to make the trip home. He would go home and be a worker, if Papa would take him back.
And go he did]]. but who was standing in the middle of the road? Papa? Waving his arms and running to him. Welcome home my son]]
