Jesus and The New Math 2 ] 5 5,000 is a story of the compassion and miraculous power of Jesus while in the desert feeding 5,000 people with a little boy’s lunch (2 fish and five loaves of bread). In accordance with the story’s theme, it also reminds readers today of the great things that happen as a result of following Jesus. In Jesus and The New Math, the story is narrated by the children’s grandmother, Nana. Nana is a woman of God who seems to always have children entrusted in her care. While doing her daily chores and listening to her children interact, God drops nuggets of wisdom into her spirit. As He speaks to Nana, He triggers a memory of biblical characters that fit the Godly principle that He desires to have the children remember.
