Being double promoted was the highlight of Jo-Jo’s middle school life. Once she stepped foot off of the bus to lay eyes on an experience she dreamt of plenty nights she realized that her fantasy was only a dressed up nightmare that included social media, makeup, and skateboards. Jo-Jo arrived at a building designed with a museum and a prison in mind. The murals, the huge pillars, glass doors and huge people made her a small fish in a huge pond. The outdoor campus where the students ate lunch caused her to have anxiety, pimples and rethinking the option of being homeschool by her single father. After her mother left for the day and never returned the only thing she had to hold onto was an affectionate kiss on the forehead, her favorite lip-gloss, and a beautiful journal. She figured it was to document her life’s journey that she lived out with her two best friends George Handle and Heather Marshall. Take a ride with the students of Hampton Ford Magnet Middle school as they find their way through the hallways and the many challenges of life that included amusement parks, skating rinks sleepovers and the huge elephant in the room: Puberty. Will Jo-Jo face her fears of walking the lines of junior high or will she opt-out and study from the comfort of her father’s library inside the castle she calls home?
