The author is a Mechanical Engineer and applies his mechanical diagnostic skills during his 9 year journey to actually visually assess his eye damage as it occurred. He reveals how he did this so others can do the same as he chronicles his most recent experiences in a here and now format that gives the reader a feel for the emotional aspects of losing vision acuity. The difficult decisions such as facing family issues as he was giving up driving an automobile are addressed.
