As the author, my purpose for this book is to share with the reader my reflections and memories and those of others who went to the same high school-East Chicago Washington High, in East Chicago, Indiana.

This book does not attempt to be a documentary of the era (1960s-1980s) that it covers. There WERE other things going on in East Chicago at that time, as there were in all cities-things in the areas of politics, crime, drugs, and such; but that is not the focus of this book.

It is the hope of the author that these shared memories and reflections will trigger similar happy memories in the reader. If you, the reader, also come away with some idea of what it was like to grow up in a multicultural community that was a true microcosm of the bigger melting pot that is America, then that’s a good thing and a bonus.
