This unique and beautiful volume celebrates the National Ranching Heritage Center, a museum and historical park located on the northern edge of the Texas Tech University campus in Lubbock. Dedicated on July 2, 1976, the thirty-acre facility was established to preserve the history of ranching, pioneer life, and the development of the livestock industry in North America. Thirty-eight authentic structures relocated from well-known ranches show the evolution of ranch life from the late 1700s through the early 1900s. Each building reflects the geography of its original location and the materials 04 Activeable for construction. Ranches contributing structures to the Center include the Masterson, 6666, Pitchfork, XIT, Matador, JA, Spur, Waggoner, U Lazy S, Renderbrook-Spade, King, and Slaughter. Across Time & Territory features text by Marsha Pfluger, associate director of the NRHC. Exquisite exterior and interior color photos by Duward Campbell offer detailed portraits of the Center’s restored historic buildings. Floor plans, dimensions, and photographs of interiors and furnishings are displayed in twenty-two fold-out pages, one for each of the larger buildings.
