This fascinating collection of New York imagery has a unique viewpoint - that of the pedestrian. Created before the advent of the automobile, New York was designed for pedestrians. Broadway, for example, was an old Indian trail stretching and meandering throughout the length of Manhattan. To truly experience the city you must walk as Ronnie Farley has done for the making of this intimate and surprising volume of life photography. AUTHOR: Ronnie Farley is a photographer who has been devoted to Native American causes, the environment, and issues that relate to women for most of her life. She received her BFA from Ohio University in 1987, and lived in New York City for over twenty years. During that time, she worked at Associated Press as a photo librarian and national photo editor, and as an independent freelancer. Currently, Farley divides her time between New York City, Beacon, New York, and the open road, working mostly for Native American non-profit organizations. Farley s pictures have been published in Rolling Stone, USA Today, The Village Voice, New York Daily News, Sierra Magazine, Native Americas, Native Peoples, and The Sunday Times of London. Clients include Facts on File, Houghton Mifflin, Rutgers University Press, Time-Life Books, Miramax, The National Women’s History Project, First Peoples Fund, The Seventh Generation Fund, and The Soros Foundation. Farley’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States and is in the permanent collections of the Museum of the City of New York, The Museum of the American Indian in New York City, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, The Nicolaysen Museum in Casper, Wyoming, The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth Texas, and the Kultur Bodensee, in Salem, Germany.
