I believe that every person has someone or something that has kept them going through the challenges they have faced in life. When I look back, one person has been consistent in making me know just how loved I am, how important I am and how precious I am. This has had nothing to do with my achievements or anything tangible about me. It has had everything to do with a man who knows his role in his daughter’s life, a man who has been a provider, a protector, a teacher and a strong shoulder to lean on. Not everyone has had the sort of father I have had all my life. Many have had to navigate the narrow roads of life without guidance or support because they didn’t have a father or because he chose not to be the father he should be to them. ‘Dear Daddy’ explores the different types of fathers I have encountered, the good, the bad and the indifferent. While analysing the different father types, we cannot but also explore the impact of the different types of fathering, the impact on the children and on the people around them. Natural fathers are human and fallible, but we all have access to a Father whose love they can never match. His arms are wide open to anyone hungry for true love, anyone who may have been neglected or abused. He is the role model for fathers to aspire towards, for them to learn how to love their children. He is the Father to the fatherless, the Father who loves unconditionally.
