The Carpenter’s Daughter
Daniel C. Bryan
In the land of the Rising Sun, the Emperor asks a master carpenter to build a teahouse in his Garden of Tranquillity. Permission is granted for the Carpenter’s daughter to accompany him to work, but only after she promises to show perfect behaviour in such a special place. This story deals with the importance of promises and the sense of belonging to a family and community through ones work. Written in the style of a fairytale, it gives children a simple introduction to Japanese culture.
