On The Wings of a North Wind: A Journey With Waterfowl

The year was 1989. The prairies of North America were in grip of the worst drought since the Dust Bowl Era. Wetlands vanished, wildlife suffered, and the continental duck population dropped to historic lows. In the midst of this, Michael Furtman called his retriever Rascal, packed his camper, and spent three months following the waterfowl migration from the Canadian prairies to the Gulf of Mexico. ON THE WINGS OF A NORTH WIND is the story of a man and his dog, the landscapes they explored, and the people on those landscapes that, for good or ill, hold in their hands the future of the habitats on which ducks and other wildlife depend.
