Chronicles of a Chest: Henry Sutton’s New Haven Schooners, 1875-1918

Henry Sutton’s 17 schooners, largely engaged in the coal trade between Chesapeake ports and New England, were some of the last under-sail carriers on the U.S. East Coast, and occasionally traded foreign.
