Sunflower: A Memoir

The story of the life of Joyce Paik, who was born in Korea in 1929. Ms. Paik is the mother of the author, Joan Sikand. The book tells of the experiences of Joyce Paik during the war between Korea and Japan. She was able to travel to the U.S., married a man that she met in Korea, and began a life as an artist and a mother. Her daughter, Joan Sikand, adds her poetry on pages of the reproductions of her mother’s art.
