Felix Varela y Morales (Havana, Cuba, 1788 - San Agustin, Florida, United States, 1853) also known as Father Varela, was a Cuban priest, teacher, writer, philosopher and politician who had a greatl importance in the intellectual, political and religious life in Cuba during the first half of the 19th century. He is considered the man who taught Cubans to think . This book contains the writings he published in his newspaper EL HABANERO (Philadelphia, 1824-1825; New York, 1825-1826), and it is considered the first journalistic revolutionary manifestation among Cubans. He called on Cubans to take care of the fate of the country and to operate with energy to be free.
