By: William M. Sweeny, Pub. 1947, Reprinted 2020, 200 pages, soft cover, Index, ISBN #0-89308-625-8.

Even though Rappahannock County was created from the Northern portion of Culpeper County in 1833, this book deals with the wills of OLD Rappahannock County (Richmond & Essex Counties). These wills were not conveniently copied and recorded by the clerk in a set of books known as Will Books , but were scattered through the Deed Books and Order Books. In selecting the wills it was necessary for the author to read over all the record books of Old Rappahannock, and all the early records of Essex and Richmond.
