The Role of the Temple from the Third Dynasty of Ur to the First Dynasty of Babylon

The essay discusses in general terms the role of temples in early Mesopotamian society, then turns to more detailed consideration of the respective positions of temples in Babylonian society at the end of the third and during the first half of the second millennium B.C.
