Real: Scenes and Monlogues for Urban Youth

This book was born out of necessity. Throughout her career, the author has taught theatre arts and acting classes to young people in community centres and public arts schools, and she has always faced the challenge of finding scene study books that were both suitable and relevant to her students. This book is the result of that search – it contains monologues and scenes for young people aged 8 to 18, with roles for boys and girls evenly divided. The pieces are short, funny, sad, punchy, withdrawn, desperate, full of hope and showing no hope at all.
