Exploring Faith: A resource for New Communicants

This welcoming resource for new communicants can be run by your local church as a short and inspiring course. Echoing the Profession of Faith as found in the Book of Common Order, it is also ideal for individuals who want to privately begin to explore what the Christian faith means.

Highly accessible, beautifully designed and with a diverse range of contributions and perspectives, this book is aimed specifically at new communicants in the Church of Scotland but is also suitable for a broader readership within and beyond Scotland.

The chapters help readers to explore the ways in which they may already belong to the Christian faith, what Christian faith is, what baptism is, what it means to be part of a Church (with a specific section on the Church of Scotland). It helps readers to explore such questions as ‘Do you believe in Jesus Christ?’, ‘Do you believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ?’ and ‘Do you believe in the Holy Spirit?’

Each chapter includes a short article, some questions for discussion/reflection, recommendations for further reading from the scriptures and other material and contributions designed to explore ‘hot potato’ issues such as suffering, other religions, heaven and hell and human sexuality.
