Francois Mauriac: Psycholectures/Psychoreadings

Mauriac’s work has been increasingly subjected to analyses drawing their inspiration in one way or another from psychology. In some cases attempts to find parallels or links between his fictional world and the earliest formative years of his life have given rise either to a psycho-biographical approach followed by Marthe Robert or Dominique Fernandez, or to a psycho-critical one pioneered by Charles Mauron. In others attention has remained focused on the text (including early manuscript drafts) with selective use being made of Lacanian analysis. The aim of this volume is to provide, as far as it is possible, an etat present of the best and most representative work of this kind. Those essays which have already been published appear in the original language. English summaries of French contributions, and French summaries of the English are contained.
