Bohemia to the Balkans: Teacher’s Book

Offering classroom project material for Key Stages 2-4, this teacher’s book contains four projects based around the traditional music of Eastern Europe. Students explore elements of rhythm, harmony and timbre, together with the traditions of Eastern Europe to recreate their own versions of the music. Pieces are for mixed ability classes and can be performed by basic classroom instruments with other instruments if necessary. The projects create opportunities for singing, ensemble playing, arranging, improvising and composing. An accompanying CD is available providing backing tracks for group activities, plus performances of the music performed by The Carnival Band on a range of traditional and modern instruments. It can also be used as a basis for cross-curricular activities.
