In Your Own Sweet Time

Alane Rollings’ poems are monologues spoken by a woman who sometimes addresses a man, sometimes herself. They are highly inventive, rich and extravagant in their imaginative range, their leap of mind from one point to another, their quiet intensity. They are personal, intimate but also universal in their themes of love and tenderness. They are concerned with abstract ideas but in a context a real phenomena, a need for incessant questioning of oneself, others, life, the universe; no final resolution is found. There is a sense of elusiveness, paradox and enigma: Are we born to be what we are?
