The Low Countries and Beyond

The title of this work reflects the broad interpretation of the field of Dutch studies. Most of the 25 articles focus on traditional topics such as Dutch and Flemish literature, Dutch linguistics, Dutch history and Dutch art history. A number of papers go beyond the Low Countries, to places such as America, Britain, Canada, Indonesia and South Africa. Some other papers reinterpret the traditional subjects of Dutch art and historiography, Anglo-Dutch and American relations and literature and language.
