Educational Leadership: Performance Standards, Portfolio Assessment, and the Internship

Leadership faculty and interns will appreciate this organized and integrated step-by-step standards-based approach to documenting student competencies. Students learn about the historical foundations of the internship and the national standards and ethical behaviors that guide leadership preparation programs. They also complete activities to demonstrate and document attained skills. The authors are strong advocates for internships in the school setting where collaboration and mentoring opportunities between supervisors, students, and school leaders can occur. They have prepared a text that contains standards-based activities and assessment rubrics to document program outcomes. These activities enable assessment of the interns application and demonstration of skills, knowledge, and dispositions within a school setting.
